IMPORTANT: ALL SECTIONS OF THE FORM MUST BE SIGNED
BY THE APPLICANT AU - PAIR
SECTION 1 (NATURE OF THE AU - PAIR)
I understand what is meant by AU - PAIR and realize that if I lose
my position as an AU - PAIR, it is similar to losing a position
in any other type of work through not being able to do what is expected
of me.
I shall look after children and baby-sit when asked.
I will perform tasks connected with/or constituting light housework/housekeeping.
SECTION 2 - SUITABILITY FOR AU - PAIR POSITION
I guarantee that there is nothing in my medical history that will
prevent me carrying out the tasks of an AU - PAIR.
I have a basic knowledge of English and I can communicate in a
basic way in English (one year of English is usually sufficient
for this purpose).
I am under 27 years of age and over 17 years.
I am genuinely interested in being an AU - PAIR, like work involving
children
and have some experience of housework (have helped at home).
NOTE
If you dislike children or have never done/have no interest in housework,
you are not suitable and should not apply for a position as an AU
- PAIR.
SECTION 3 (RESTRICTIONS WITHIN FAMILY LIFE)
I understand that being an au-pair means living as a member of
the family and it is not an independent life style. I further understand
that this means limitations on my activities as I would accept those
that I experience at home with my family/parents.
I agree to abide by any reasonable rules laid down by the parents
of the family to which I have been allocated.
I accept that certain rules would apply to the time I return home
at night and staying with friends and also to smoking in the house.
Further restrictions may apply as to where I take the children when
I take them out of the house.
Boyfriends should not be invited into the host family home (in
the case of male au- pairs this would apply to girlfriends) unless
prior consent has been given by the family.
Telephone calls should not be made without express prior consent
of the host family. Please note everyone now receives an itemized
telephone bill and the host family will know if you have made unauthorized
calls as the number, date and duration of the call will be shown.
NOTE
Unauthorized late homecoming or overnight away from home can result
in instant dismissal.
SECTION 4 (CHANGE OF FAMILY)
In genuine cases, our English partner, will arrange a change of
family.
This will only be done after exhaustive investigation.
Change of family is an exception and is not normal.
When an au - pair asks for a change of family, the following will/must
be observed:
Complaints should be in written form by the AU - PAIR and sent
to our English partner.
You will then be interviewed either in person or by telephone by
the proprietor of the English Agency.
Your complaint will then be investigated and you will be informed.
The decision of our English partner is final in all cases.
NOTE
Au-pair work is not for everybody, therefore think very carefully
before you apply, to avoid disappointment.
